UK Evaluation Society partners with Ipsos to map evaluation across the UK
Why this survey matters
Evaluation happens everyday across government, charities, health, education, arts, culture, business and beyond — yet we don’t currently
have a clear, shared picture of its true scale, reach, and role across the UK.
To address this gap, we’re launching a new UK-wide survey in partnership with Ipsos, to map the current landscape of evaluation.
What we're aiming to understand
The survey will help build insight into:
- how evaluation is being used across different sectors
- where evaluation capacity currently sits
- the challenges people and organisations face
- how evaluative practice is evolving over time
By bringing this evidence together, we can build a stronger, more credible picture of evaluation in the UK — helping us advocate more effectively for its value and better support those doing this work.
Who should take part
Your perspective really matters. Whether evaluation is your core role, part of a wider portfolio, or something you contribute to alongside other responsibilities, your input will help ensure the findings reflect the full breadth of evaluative practice across the UK.
What to expect
The survey:
- is anonymous
- takes around 15 minutes to complete
- will directly inform future advocacy, policy conversations, and support for the evaluation community
- Survey results will be shared at the 2026 UK Evaluation conference, Bridging the gap: evaluation to action, alongside a published report.
Take part and help shape the evidence base for evaluation in the UK.
