Starting out in evaluation can be exciting—but also challenging. Many professionals enter the field unexpectedly, often from diverse backgrounds, with little guidance on where to find support, connect with others, or develop their skills.
That’s why we’re building a volunteer-led Early Career Evaluators’ Network (ECEN)—a space designed to support, connect, and empower those new to evaluation.

Who is the network for?
If any of these sound like you, we’d love for you to join:
- You’re studying evaluation or a related subject.
- You’re in your first five years as an evaluator.
- You’ve recently started working in evaluation, even if it’s not your main role.
- You self-identify as an early career evaluator and want to connect with others.
Why get involved?
As a volunteer-led initiative, this network is being shaped by and for early career evaluators. We aim to:
- Build a strong support system—find guidance, share experiences, and grow together.
- Connect you with peers and professionals—helping you expand your network.
- Ensure training and resources meet your needs—so you can develop your skills with confidence.
- Raise awareness of evaluation as a career—highlighting opportunities and pathways.
