October 8 – Evidence & Evaluation Forum
Using Evaluations and Evidence in Policymaking to Boost Health Sector Productivity in Europe
Insights from Policymakers: European Commission, WHO and OECD
The Forum brought together policymakers and evaluation leaders from the European Commission, WHO, and OECD for a rich discussion on how evidence can drive productivity reforms in European health systems.
This will be a hybrid session, taking place both in-person in Brussels and online. The full agenda can be accessed here (including details for both in-person and online attendees).
The session will feature contributions from senior policymakers from key European and international institutions, including:
- European Commission: Mr. Dirk van den Steen, Acting Head of Unit at DG SANTE
- WHO: Dr. Natasha Azzopardi-Muscat, Director of the Division of Country Health Policies and Systems
- OECD: Ms. Francesca Colombo, head of the health division at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development
The session is free of charge. Whilst the focus is on Europe, we would point out that the issues about evidence and policy-making are relevant globally, and indeed to other sectors.

The EES Thematic Working Group 8 (TWG8) together with SETIG (American Evaluation Association) invite you to an 𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 gathering. A different kind of gathering, designed as a space for dialogue, collective learning, and experimenting with new ways of engaging the evaluation community.

Celebrating 30 Years of the Journal Evaluation
On 6 November 2025, the Dutch Evaluation Network Vide will host a special visit by one of the most dedicated and experienced thinker, writer, academic, and advisor in the field of policy evaluation:
Elliot Stern, emeritus professor at Lancaster University, founder and editor-in-chief of ‘Evaluation’ and former president of both the European Evaluation Society (EES) and the UK Evaluation Society (UKES).
