Virtual Speed Networking

Are you looking to expand your network in the social research or evaluation sector? This brand-new pilot event offers a light and engaging way to connect with professionals across both fields.

In partnership with the Social Research Association (SRA), we’re aiming to bring together members of both the SRA and UKES in a relaxed, speed-dating-style format.

Event Overview

You’ll be randomly paired with other participants for quick, one-to-one Zoom conversations, making it easy to meet new people without any pressure. You can expect to connect with at least two other participants during each session.

To help break the ice, we’ll provide some friendly conversation starters. And if you prefer a more low-key approach to networking, rest assured this session is designed to be enjoyable for everyone.

Afterwards, you can choose to share your contact details with anyone you’d like to stay in touch with. This welcoming new initiative is open to both SRA and UKES members—come join in and make some new connections!

Audience

This is an exclusive trial of a new event for UKES members and SRA members.

What to Expect

The session will be hosted on Zoom. We will send you joining details shortly before the event.

On the call, the host will do a short introduction and you’ll then be shuffled into a breakout room with a fellow SRA members or UKES member, selected at random. You will be in there for a 5-minute session, in which you’re encouraged to say hello and share a few details about yourself. We’ll give you a prompt sheet with some pre-written questions, in case you hit a quiet moment. After 5 minutes, you’ll be shuffled again to another chat. This will happen 2-3 times before you’re brought back into the main room to close the session.

Remember, everyone on the call is there for the same reason as you – hoping to make connections and get to know their peers.

After the event, you’ll be invited to share any contact details with your fellow attendees – if you wish!

This is the first time running this event, so we would welcome feedback from all participants to make sure it continues to be a success going forward. We’ll reach out with a survey after the event and would greatly appreciate your thoughts.
