Register your interest: AI in Evaluation course

AI is increasingly showing up in evaluative practice, bringing new opportunities, new challenges and important questions about quality, transparency and professional judgement.

Developed by evaluators, for evaluators, AI for Evaluation: Foundations, launching in June 2026, is a new self-paced online course and the first step in our AI Learning Pathway. Building on our AI in Evaluation Good Practice Guidelines – still the only practitioner-focused AI guidance published by a national evaluation society – the course provides a practical framework for understanding and using AI in evaluation.

Rather than telling you whether you should use AI, the course helps you make informed decisions about when, where and how to use it responsibly. Through four structured modules, you’ll explore what AI tools can and can’t do, how to assess risks and limitations, what to disclose to commissioners, and how to verify outputs before they inform evaluation findings and reports.

The course is currently being piloted by evaluators from government, consultancy, academia and the third sector to help ensure it is practical, relevant and grounded in real-world evaluation practice.
