Centre of Expertise on Child Sexual Abuse for England and Wales
The Centre of Expertise on Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) has been established to help bring about significant and system-wide change in how child sexual abuse is responded to locally and nationally. We will do this by identifying, generating and sharing high quality evidence of what works to prevent and tackle Child Sexual Abuse (including Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE)), to inform both policy and practice.
The Centre is funded by the Home Office, led by Barnardo's, and works closely with key partners from academic institutions, local authorities, health, education, police, and the voluntary sector.Core partners include London Metropolitan University, University of Birmingham; Coventry University; Durham University; University of Lincoln; NHS England, College of Policing, and the Local Government Association. The Centre has funding for three years.
Having successfully appointed enthusiastic, experienced and highly-skilled candidates to the top level roles within the Centre, we are now keen to recruit further inspiring and perceptive individuals to the team and are currently recruiting for two:
Senior Research and Evaluation Officers
The Centre will provide research and evaluation primarily in two ways: it will commission and undertake its own research, usually in partnership with the partner universities and it will have a Research Fund, to which researchers will bid. Research priorities are currently being consulted upon, but work will certainly be needed on the scale and nature of CSA/E and on 'what works' in terms of prevention and intervention.
Role 1: Research Fund - This role will lead and oversee the Research Fund and wider research governance and ethics processes, to ensure excellent quality in all research funded by the Centre.
Role 2: What Works - The post-holder in this role will develop and oversee directly provided and commissioned research and evaluation, especially leading the Centre's contribution towards understanding the scale and nature of CSE/A and 'what works' in tackling it and informing the field on this.
Both roles will also develop and oversee some commissioned research and evaluation projects; and assist in making research findings accessible.
Please visit Barnardo’s website and read the full job description, person specification and additional information sheets to gain a fuller understanding of these roles and requirements.
Secondment requests, each for up to one year's duration (renewable), may be considered from suitably qualified and experienced candidates.
Although this contract has a permanent status, please be aware that this post is subject to funding for 3 years and therefore should this funding not be extended further, you may be subject to a redundancy consultation or a TUPE arrangement.
